Refund policy
Refund, Exchange & Warranty Policy
Effective Date: August 2026
At Trini Necessities Online Store Ltd, trading as Trini Necessities, we take product quality, customer satisfaction, and the integrity of our returns process seriously.
All products are inspected and, where applicable, tested before being released for delivery or customer collection.
Please review this policy carefully before making a purchase. By purchasing from Trini Necessities, you acknowledge that returns, exchanges, warranties, and refund requests are subject to the conditions outlined below.
Nothing in this policy is intended to limit any consumer right or remedy that cannot lawfully be excluded under the laws of Trinidad and Tobago.
1. Change-of-Mind Returns
Trini Necessities does not operate a general 7-day change-of-mind return policy.
Customers should carefully review the product description, photographs, specifications, measurements, colours, sizing, compatibility, and other relevant information before completing a purchase.
An item cannot automatically be returned simply because:
- You changed your mind
- You no longer want or need the item
- You ordered the wrong item, colour, size, style, or quantity
- The product does not suit your personal preference
- You found the item elsewhere at a different price
- The item was purchased as a gift and is no longer required
Where we choose to approve a discretionary return or exchange, it will be subject to the conditions of this policy.
2. Jewelry, Accessories & Clothing Exchanges
Exchange requests for eligible jewelry, accessories, and clothing must be submitted within 24 hours of purchase, delivery, or collection.
To qualify for an exchange, the item must:
- Be unused and unworn
- Be in its original condition
- Include its original packaging
- Include all tags, accessories, components, manuals, or other items originally supplied
- Show no signs of wear, use, alteration, damage, staining, odour, or misuse
- Be accompanied by valid proof of purchase
All returned merchandise is inspected before an exchange is approved.
Submitting an exchange request does not automatically mean that the exchange has been accepted.
Items that do not meet these requirements may be refused.
3. Electronics & Limited Warranty
Eligible electronic products are covered by a 7-to-14-day limited warranty, depending on the specific product.
Where applicable, the warranty period begins on the date the customer receives or collects the item.
The applicable warranty period may be stated on the product listing, receipt, invoice, packaging, or communicated at the time of purchase.
Our limited warranty is intended to cover genuine manufacturing or functional defects that arise during normal and intended use.
Warranty coverage does not automatically apply to damage caused after the product has been supplied to the customer.
4. What the Limited Warranty Does Not Cover
Unless otherwise required by applicable law, our limited warranty does not cover damage or failure caused by:
- Accidental damage
- Drops, falls, crushing, or impact
- Water or liquid damage where the product is not designed to withstand it
- Improper charging
- Incorrect voltage or power supply
- Use of unsuitable chargers, adapters, cables, batteries, or accessories
- Improper installation or assembly
- Failure to follow instructions
- Negligent handling
- Misuse or abuse
- Unauthorized repairs or modifications
- Tampering
- Normal wear and tear
- Cosmetic damage arising after delivery
- Damage caused by children, pets, or third parties
- Lost or missing components after delivery
- Damage occurring after the item has been accepted in good condition
Where necessary, the product may be inspected or tested before we determine whether the issue qualifies as a manufacturing defect.
5. Reporting a Defective or Incorrect Item
Customers should inspect their order promptly after receiving it.
If you believe that you received:
- A defective product
- An incorrect item
- An item missing a component
- An item damaged before or during delivery
- A product that materially differs from what was ordered
please contact Trini Necessities as soon as reasonably possible.
For products covered by our limited warranty, warranty claims should be submitted within the stated warranty period.
We may request information reasonably necessary to assess the claim, including:
- Your order number
- Receipt or proof of purchase
- Photographs of the product
- Video showing the reported problem
- Photographs of the packaging
- Serial, model, batch, or identification numbers where applicable
- A description of the problem
- Any other information reasonably necessary to verify the claim
Requiring this information helps us accurately determine the nature and cause of the reported issue.
6. Product Inspection & Verification
All returned products are subject to inspection and, where applicable, testing before a return, exchange, warranty claim, credit, or refund is approved.
We reserve the right to compare the returned product against our:
- Order records
- Product photographs
- Packaging
- Serial or model numbers
- Identification markings
- Quality-control records
- Accessories and components originally supplied
Where appropriate, a product may need to be retained temporarily for testing or further assessment.
A decision will be made after the inspection has been completed.
7. Fraudulent, False or Misleading Claims
Trini Necessities maintains strict procedures to protect both our customers and our business against fraudulent return and warranty activity.
A claim may be refused where there is reasonable evidence that:
- The returned item is not the item originally purchased from us
- A product has been intentionally damaged
- Damage occurred after delivery and is falsely represented as a manufacturing defect
- Components, accessories, or parts have been removed or substituted
- A serial number, label, seal, model number, or other identifying feature has been removed, altered, or tampered with
- The product has been opened, repaired, modified, dismantled, or tampered with without authorization
- Photographs, videos, receipts, or other evidence submitted in support of a claim are false or misleading
- The customer provides materially false information regarding the condition or history of the product
- There is evidence of return, exchange, warranty, payment, or delivery fraud
We may request additional verification before processing a claim where suspicious circumstances are identified.
Where we reasonably suspect fraudulent activity, we reserve the right to suspend processing of the claim while the matter is reviewed and to take appropriate action where permitted by law.
8. Items Sent Back Without Approval
Customers must contact Trini Necessities before returning or bringing back an item.
A return, exchange, or warranty claim must first be reviewed and authorized by our team.
Items delivered, mailed, couriered, or otherwise returned to us without prior authorization may not be accepted or processed.
Our warehouse is located within a private industrial complex and is not a walk-in retail store. Customers must therefore contact us in advance before visiting the location for a return, exchange, warranty assessment, or pickup.
9. Personalized, Customized & Engraved Items
Products that have been personalized, customized, or engraved specifically for a customer are generally final sale and cannot be exchanged or returned because of a change of mind or an error in information supplied by the customer.
Customers are responsible for carefully checking names, initials, dates, wording, spelling, and other personalization instructions before approving the order.
This restriction does not apply where Trini Necessities made the personalization error or where another remedy is required under applicable law.
10. Store Credit
Where Trini Necessities approves a discretionary return or exchange, the value of the approved item will generally be provided as store credit rather than a cash refund.
Store credit may be used toward a future purchase from Trini Necessities, subject to any conditions communicated when the credit is issued.
Store credit will only be issued after the returned item has been received, inspected, and approved.
This store-credit policy applies to discretionary returns and exchanges and is not intended to limit any refund or other remedy that may be required under applicable law.
11. Refunds
Trini Necessities generally does not provide cash refunds or refunds to bank accounts for change-of-mind purchases or discretionary returns.
Depending on the circumstances of an approved claim, we may provide an appropriate remedy such as:
- Exchange of the item
- Replacement of the item
- Repair, where appropriate
- Store credit
- Another appropriate remedy
- A refund where required under applicable law
The appropriate resolution will depend on the nature of the issue, condition of the product, available replacement stock, applicable warranty, and relevant legal requirements.
12. Replacement Products
Where a defective product qualifies for replacement, we will generally replace it with the same product where stock is available.
If the same product is unavailable, we may discuss an appropriate alternative with the customer.
A replacement is not guaranteed until the original product has been inspected and the claim approved.
13. Delivery & Transportation Costs
For ordinary exchanges, change-of-mind requests, or customer-related return arrangements, the customer is responsible for applicable delivery, courier, postage, or transportation costs associated with returning and receiving the item.
Where an exchange, replacement, or return is required because of a confirmed error by Trini Necessities, such as an incorrect item being supplied, we will cover the applicable reasonable delivery costs associated with correcting our error.
Delivery charges are not automatically refundable simply because a customer chooses to return or exchange an item.
14. Quality Control Before Dispatch
We take reasonable steps to inspect merchandise before it leaves our possession.
Electronic products may also be function-tested where appropriate.
These quality-control procedures help us:
- Identify visible damage
- Confirm that the correct product is being supplied
- Verify basic functionality where applicable
- Confirm that major components and accessories are included
- Reduce the likelihood of defective merchandise reaching customers
Quality-control testing does not affect a customerโs ability to report a genuine defect that subsequently becomes apparent.
15. Proof of Purchase
Valid proof of purchase is required for exchanges, warranty claims, credits, and returns.
Acceptable proof may include:
- Shopify order confirmation
- Receipt
- Invoice
- Order number
- Verified Trini Necessities transaction record
- Other documentation that allows us to reasonably verify the purchase
We reserve the right to refuse a claim where we cannot reasonably verify that the product was purchased from Trini Necessities.
16. Items Purchased From Other Sellers
Our warranty, exchange, return, and store-credit policies apply only to products purchased directly from Trini Necessities Online Store Ltd / Trini Necessities.
We are not responsible for products purchased from another business, reseller, marketplace seller, or individual, even where the same or a similar product is sold by Trini Necessities.
17. Abuse of the Returns or Warranty Process
We reserve the right to restrict discretionary returns, exchanges, warranty processing, or future transactions where there is reasonable evidence of repeated or deliberate abuse of our policies.
Examples may include:
- Repeated false defect claims
- Product swapping
- Returning used merchandise as new
- Deliberately damaging products
- Repeatedly returning incomplete merchandise
- Providing fraudulent evidence
- Attempting to obtain multiple remedies for the same purchase
- Other dishonest or abusive conduct
Any restriction will be applied reasonably and will not remove rights or remedies that a customer is legally entitled to exercise.
18. Customer Responsibility
Customers should:
- Inspect their order promptly after receiving it
- Follow all product instructions
- Use the correct voltage and power accessories
- Store and handle products appropriately
- Keep packaging and accessories during the applicable warranty period where reasonably practical
- Contact us promptly if a genuine problem occurs
- Avoid attempting unauthorized repairs before a warranty assessment
Continuing to use a product after discovering a serious fault may worsen the damage and can make it more difficult to determine the original cause of the problem.
19. Policy Decisions
Each return, exchange, or warranty request will be assessed based on the facts and circumstances of the individual case.
Approval of a return, exchange, credit, replacement, or other discretionary remedy in one situation does not create an obligation for Trini Necessities to approve a different claim that does not meet the requirements of this policy.
20. Consumer Rights
This policy establishes Trini Necessitiesโ standard procedures for returns, exchanges, warranties, and discretionary refunds.
Nothing contained in this policy is intended to exclude, restrict, or override any consumer protection, warranty, condition, remedy, or other right that cannot lawfully be excluded or restricted under the laws of Trinidad and Tobago.
Where there is a conflict between this policy and a mandatory requirement of applicable law, the applicable legal requirement will prevail.
